Tempat SLK privacy policy

Tempat SLK is a free app published by Equinox Software Pty Ltd (trading as Tempat), ABN 71 700 555 746 ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: everything stays on your phone, unless you choose to share it.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The Tempat desktop software and the tempat.com.au website have their own privacy policy.

What the app uses, and where it stays

Your location. The app uses your phone's location, only while you are using it, to find the road and SLK you are at. Your location is used on your phone only. We never receive it, store it or share it. The app does not use your location in the background.

The camera and your photos. The app uses the camera to take site photos. It stamps each photo with the road, SLK, coordinates, date and time, and saves it to your phone's photo library. The saved photo also records its location and time in the photo's own details (EXIF), as most camera apps do. The app does not read or upload your existing photos. Photos leave your phone only if you share them.

Your settings. Settings such as the search distance and appearance are stored on your phone.

A log of errors. The app keeps a short log of errors on your phone, to help fix problems. It does not contain your location. It is sent to us only if you choose to send a problem report (see below).

What is sent, and when

Road network updates. The app downloads updated road network data from data.tempat.com.au. These requests contain no location or personal details. Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) receives your phone's IP address in order to deliver the download, and may keep it briefly in its logs. We do not use it to identify you.

Problem reports, only when you send one. "Send problem report" opens an email to [email protected] in your mail app, for you to read before you send it. It contains the error log, the app version, your phone's make, model and operating system version, the road network version, and your settings. It does not contain your location. If you send it, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use these only to answer you and fix the problem, and we keep them only as long as we need to.

Things you share yourself. "Share" and "Show on map" hand the information you choose to another app on your phone, such as your email, messages or maps app. What happens next is governed by that app's own privacy policy.

What we don't do

Permissions

You can turn these off at any time in your phone's settings. The app will keep working as far as it can without them.

Children

Tempat SLK is a work tool for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you (in practice, only problem report emails you have sent us), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change affects what the app sends, we will say so in the app's release notes.
